A long-held dream became reality when I returned to school in 1990 to study Art. After many years in the business world holding corporate positions, I seized the opportunity to explore my creativity in an academic environment. My passion for drawing, sculpture – especially bronze - and my love of color and paints guided me through the years of higher education and culminated when I received the Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture & Painting from Memphis College of Art in 2001. Since that time, I have taught on the Adjunct Faculty at the University of Memphis and Southwest Tennessee Community College as well as made art in my studio, participated in group shows, festivals and was given solo exhibitions in 2005 and 2008.
Recently, I was awarded a Mississippi Artists Mini-Grant which I am using to create a new body of work. Merging 2D with 3D media has interested me for years and these new pieces will expand the concept of my recent paintings that have silver wire line drawings embedded in the canvas.
