Jeannine Paul

Featured Picture:

Born in Paris, France, Jeannine Paul began her art education at “l’école de la Petite Republique” in Sèvres, France, from 1945 to 1947, after which she emigrated to the United States. Jeannine attended classes at the Memphis College of Art, intermittently from 1960 to 1989 studying painting weaving and enameling with Dorothy Sturm for several years. Although she loved and enjoyed enameling, Jeannine gave it up to return to her first love - painting.

Jeannine has traveled extensively and has painted many scenes captured by her mind’s eye during those travels. She paints mostly impressionist and expressionist landscapes in oil. Jeannine has won numerous awards in juried art exhibits and has many of her paintings in private collections in the U.S. and Europe.

-Artist’s Statement-

“Love of nature, the outdoor beauty and tranquility are the elements that become subjects of my landscape paintings. I like to experiment with different styles and take liberties, exaggerating the shape and color until my painting comes alive and bounces off the canvas. What I try to communicate in all my paintings is a sense of life and a beautiful moment. I want the onlooker to feel happy when viewing my artwork, take in the beauty and enjoy”
