Kay Robinson
Advertising, graphic design and illustration in the medical field for most of my career. I have finally broken free to pursue my true love - art. No more sitting in a dark corner staring at a computer screen. Living on a lake in north Mississippi surrounded by trees, animals and mainly a sense of peace enables me to concentrate on my creative outlets.
In school, I excelled in art and attended a fashion illustration course at the Memphis Academy of Art and Mississippi College for Women. My first jobs were as a fashion illustrator for Goldsmiths and Gerber’s department stores of Memphis. These were my favorite jobs and I have renewed my love for fashion in my current paintings. I am inspired by the exotic world of fashion and art deco as a design element.
I have always been a lover of contemporary as well as vintage fashion and have allowed it to be an inspiration for many of my paintings. My vintage clothes collection is often depicted in the paintings.
